Yankees Player Notes Best wishes for a quick recovery to Tyler Sing, who recently broke his wrist and will sit out the rest of the season ... He was in uniform on May 29 to cheer on his team. Drew Albright (call up from Pirates), Patrick O'Malley, and Nicholas Tunstall were members of the Team Pittsburgh 12u dekhockey squad that won the International DekHockey Tournament Association U.S. National Championship over Memorial Day Weekend in Leominster, Mass. The team capped a weekend full of games by defeating a team from Egg Harbor, N.J., to claim the national title. June 2 Yankees best Urban Impact, 19-3 - The Yankees made it two victories in a row with a dominating 19-3 decision over UIF Monday evening. The duo of Andrew Kocay and Nick Tunstall pitched six innings of no-hit ball, allowing three unearned runs. The Yankee bats pounded out 18 hits, a homer by Devonte Stackhouse, a triple by Dionno Smith-Hopkins, and doubles by Tunstall, Sean McGrath, Patrick O'Malley, and Phoenix Rouse. Rouse and Nick Nyman, call-ups from the junior little league Rockies, made significant contributions in the winning effort. May 31 The Yankees, smarting after two hard-fought losses to Perry and Brightwood, defeated the Padres 16-6. Yankee bats were smoking, pounding out 15 hits against three Padre hurlers. Dionno Smith-Hopkins was 4-5, Andrew Kocay 3-4, and Sean McGrath 3-4 to lead the hit parade. McGrath also delivered a 10-strikeout pitching performance, and a steal of home plate to cap his MVP game performance. May 22 Yankees KO Urban Impact, 13-0 - The Yankees finally brought their bats out of storage, rapping 12 hits en route to victory. Devonte Stackhouse contributed an inside-the-park homer, and Sean McGrath mashed a triple. Yankee pitching again was strong. Stackhouse, Nicholas Tunstall, and Patrick O'Malley combined on the one-hit shutout, striking out 13 Urban Impact batters. Sponsor Royal Office Products. |
